Scarab Automatic MT111-10 Tactical Black Plain EdgeThe QD (Quick Deployment) SCARAB TM is a high quality tactical out-the-front knife, based on Microtech's original Ultratech TM design and built to Microtech's extremely robust, durable and efficient standards. This knife incorporates many of Microtech's earlier successful design characteristics, but using outstanding technical improvements, presents them in a tougher, wear-resistant and larger form. For example, unlike other OTF knives that hold the main spring in a compressed state when the knife is charged, the QD SCARAB has a unique spring set that is at rest in either open or closed position. Thus, the springs are not stored in a charged state and will not lose strength while the knife is not being used. Key features: Double action out-the-front (OTF) design Single or dual edge blade. Use in high intensity environments is design-inherent. The SCARAB has been fabricated to the highest possible standards to assure reliability and safety with its use. The knife is not intended to be used in a press-to-target mode and the blade will not fully deploy when the end of the handle is pressed directly against an object, soft or hard. Once launched and locked into place, however, the blade will withstand normal human arm/body strength strain and will not retract until the actuating button is operated. The knife should not be used in a pry or lever application and critical destructive damage can be incurred if the blade is so engaged. The QD SCARAB is not designed to be thrown and should not be used for that purpose. Construction : The QD SCARAB is constructed of high quality materials intended to provide edge sharpness and retention, corrosion resistance, plus high durability under extreme wear and field use. Tamper resistant screws are used to assure parts integrity and to restrict internal access to qualified and properly equipped personnel. Blade material is S30-V steel, coated to resist discoloration and corrosion. Internal springs and working parts are fabricated from US-made materials and machined to extremely close tolerances. Handle is 6061-T6 Mil Spec Aluminum, hard coat anodized with anti-slip inserts. All fasteners for the handle are proprietary anti-tamper screws (Tri-Wing).
