I must totally disagree with the previous reviewer The SOG Flash series of knifes is one of the best self defense weapons a person can own As far as the cheap feel I may agree somewhat but the reviewer purchased the cheapest Flash out there Anyway it is not a cheaply built knife I have personally punished the majority of these knives in training and they stand up to anything you can throw at them With that said SOGs assisted opening is legal in almost all states and opens with the assistance of a spring making it an automatic without the title for legality reasons the pocket clip can be changed from side to side to allow the thumb activator the ability to be deployed from either hand fluidly and not get caught in your pocket with dual studs You should remove the lock by opening the knife and removing it The blade can be tightened via the Allen wrench screw give this knife a try you will not be sorry

A little dissapointed with the feel of the action |

I read good reviews of this knife and decided to try it. The quality of the blade is superb, the light weight is great and the pocket clip is excellent. BUT, the overall feel of the knife is very cheap. The action of the blade mechanism is not smooth, the locking button is difficult to operate with the right hand and is almost impossible to operate with the left hand for one-handed operation. Also, in the folded state the button rattles like in a cheap toy. The blade lockup is not very good. It moves left to right a lot. There is no excuse for a $30+ pocket knife to feel this way. I did not expect such a "cheap" feeling knife from SOG. My biggest complaint is the locking button design. It needs to be ambidextrous and it needs to feel better to the fingers. Something like a thumb stud that protrudes on both sides of the handle and mated to the locking piston so it doesn't move when folded would be much better.
